ETHAN’S STORY
This all began with one young man — Ethan Mattison.
Ethan was just 17 when he began volunteering at Ladles of Love, a grassroots soup kitchen in Cape Town, South Africa. He was deeply moved by the experience — excited, inspired, and eager to make a difference.
Tragically, Ethan passed away not long after in a sudden, heartbreaking accident. His loss shook everyone who knew him — most of all his parents, Kevin and Sandy, and his sister, Alex. But his light, his kindness — that stayed. And it lives on.
To honour his life and carry forward the kindness Ethan so naturally embodied, we created this project in his name. Ladles of Love isn’t just a brand — it’s a way to continue the impact Ethan had only just begun.

WHAT IS LADLES OF LOVE?
Ladles of Love is our commitment to picking up what Ethan began and was hoping to build – one person making a difference as best as they can. And so, in our way, we’ve reimagined it as a revolutionary new line of comforting soups, where every single tub purchased comes with our commitment to feed someone in need.
